With less than 15 months for the Buhari-led Administration to vacate office, The Union for Academic staff of Nigerian Universities (ASUU) has been putting pressure on the FG (Federal Government) to fulfill the promises that have been made to the Union since assuming power on the 29th May 2015.

Recent meetings between the two entity has turned out void, without any positive outcome leaving all Nigerian students and International students studying in all Public universities in Nigeria with no other option than to stay at home and wait for the two entity to come up with a solution, after a rumor of additional 8weeks action strike to follow the initial 1 month strike they embarked on 14th February.
However, we believe that what is contributing to the failure to come up with an agreement between FG and ASUU is; Given that in the Next 14months and election will be conducted in the country to bring in new leaders, so the present leaders will try to walk away without fulfilling their part of the agreement they had in place with ASUU and while ASUU are suspecting that is what the FG is having in mind. They will do all it takes to make the Federal Government of Nigeria fulfill their duties by even making the striker longer than it is already.

Finally, if new leaders assumes office, they will have to negotiate new deals with ASUU as the previous one’s where no agreed by them but by the previous Government.
This will affect ASUU and the Universities as a whole and ASUU are trying to prevent this.
